The music begins, yet it feels as if it has no true beginning.
The story starts earlier: try to immerse yourself in the inner atmosphere where you lived before discovering you had Parkinson’s. The music slowly unravels. You know what you’ve experienced, how you’ve lived. The physical pain and the pain of the soul: recurring gestural motifs throughout the album. Feel free to express all of this however you wish, if you want to. An introspective journey through emotions.

Fractures: desease versus healing
“Fractures: disease versus healing” is the result of several recording ses- sions in which René van Helsdingen improvises, retracing, on Side A, his encounter with Parkinson’s disease and his slow and dramatic process of awareness; on Side B, the emergence of a will to react, “accepting” coex-istence with Parkinson’s and “inviting” it to become a creative part of his music. It is the story of a non-linear journey, where light and darkness alternate, intertwining with a range of emotions such as fear, fragility, despair, anger, rebellion, and struggle; in the background, from time to time, emerges that smiling irony that characterizes René’s personality and music.
